Increasing the number and diversity of workforce-ready energy industry geospatial professionals cognizant of geodetic theory and application is a key goal for both the APSG Education Foundation and TAMU.

The first step along this path is to get high school students to choose TAMU Geosciences and GIST as an academic home, and the energy industry as a career path. TAMU Geosciences’s GeoX program has a proven track record of creating opportunities and experiences for high school students which lead to enrollments in TAMU Geosciences and GIST.

The Cain Memorial GeoX Scholars Program helps meet the demands of industry by engaging greater numbers of high school students and supporting the development of in-depth GIST and geodetic hands-on experiences to improve the already successful program.

The Cain Memorial GeoX Scholars Program provides funding to support the travel, housing and meals for costs for four students to participate in the TAMU Geosciences’s GeoX Program in College Station, courtesy of the APSG Education Foundation.

Current high school students interested in participating as Cain Memorial GeoX Scholars should consult the TAMU GeoX website, and contact Judy Nunez.
