Research

Applied hydroclimatological research is especially important because population growth, economic development, and climatic change are having a significant impact on the availability of water resources and the global hydrologic cycle.  The goal of my research is to provide a better understanding of severe hydrologic events (floods and droughts) in order to facilitate the adoption of appropriate adaptation, mitigation, and avoidance strategies.  The research that I pursue focuses on the following areas:

In addition, I am pursuing research related to climate variability and extremes, teleconnections, climate forecasting, and the use of GIS and remote sensing technologies in climate research.  I am involved in a number of ongoing projects with John Nielsen-Gammon and the Office of the Texas State Climatologist.  All of my research activities are listed in my CV.
