Geography Journal
GEOG 201-501 --- Fall 2006 --- Dr. Prout

Journal details:

• The primary purpose of this exercise is to have students express themselves over topics brought up during lecture. Anticipated topics include globalization, environmental change, and even landscape description from videos. The secondary purpose is to give students an opportunity to write, which hopefully leads to better writing skills.

• The Journal is worth 300 points or 30% of the total points that will be used to calculate semester grades.

• The Journal will consist of ten entries (30 points each); each entry has a minimum word count of 500.

• Journal topics will be announced during class, and they are due one week later for full credit. Late entries will be subjected to point deduction. All entries (on-time or late) must be submitted by December 1st.

• Journal entries will be submitted “electronically" via the TurnItIn.com website.

• Journal will be graded on a rubric of full & complete; on-time; non-plagiarism; written comprehension.
