Natural Hazards

Debbie Roberston (standing) works with three participants learning about natural hazards in Australia.

In a second hands-on workshop session led by Debbie Roberston, A&M Consolidated High School, College Station, Texas, participants learned about natural hazards in Australia and contrasted them to natural hazards in Texas and the United States. Among the hazards discussed were drought and bush fires. Ms. Robertson featured several web sites that offer classroom teachers good information on current climate data from Australia, particularly the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's web site at http://www.abc.net.au
