Dr. Heyman supports the work of his Ph.D. student Liam Carr, who is conducting a multidisciplinary study on the commercial fisheries of St. Croix. The study includes biological studies of a local mutton snapper spawning aggregation, juvenile habitat suitability studies, and interviews with local fishermen to record their local knowledge and insight on St. Croix's marine resources (see also Gulf of Mexico, Los Roques, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Cayman Islands, Marine and Coastal Geography Group).
