Geosciences to Offer Nine First-Year Seminars Fall Semester 8/21/09 - Nine seminars in the geosciences will be offered to incoming freshmen this semester through the University’s First-Year Seminar program. These one-credit seminars are open only to first year freshmen. Each will use a learning community setting to focus on a particular research area or topic of current interest. |

05/08/09 - The College of Geosciences will play host to the state's top African American and Hispanic students this fall when it launches the Investigate Geosciences, or iGeo, Weekend Program. Designed by Director of Recruitment Dr. Sonia Garcia, the program will bring Texas' top high-achieving junior and senior students to College Station for a whirlwind weekend. During iGeo, participants will meet geosciences faculty and view presentations of college research, labs, and facilities. They will stay in a residence hall with a current geosciences student, tour the Texas A&M campus, meet former students, enjoy a traditional Aggie tailgate, and attend a Fightin' Texas Aggie football game. |

By Keith Randall 05/04/09 - Numerous government and scientific leaders will be present at 10 a.m. local time Wednesday (May 6) at Pier 2 in Honolulu Harbor as the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) celebrates the return of the "JOIDES Resolution," one of the world’s premier research vessels, to scientific ocean drilling following its $115 million overhaul. The ship is operated by Texas A&M University for the IODP. |
