Howdy, I am an Associate professor in the Department of Geography in the College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University located deep in the Heart of Texas. My primary research interests are in application of remote sensing and GIS technologies to the study of the cryosphere. Not surprisingly I am teaching courses in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing. Currently, I am working on several research projects. One major research project is in collaboration with Texas A&M researchers in the Geochemical and Environmental Research Group (GERG). We are undertaking an environmental monitoring program for McMurdo Station, Antarctica. For the 8th year, I was in Antarctica November and December working on this project - you can follow this year's field season at this website. I also have websites for our 2003, 2004 and 2005 field seasons. I am also conducting research on the use of remote sensing to monitor changes in the extent of tropical glaciers and to map the maximum extent of glaciers in the Andes of South America during the last ice age as recorded in the position of moraines for paleoclimatic interpretation. Some of this work has been recently featured in an Associated Press News Article I have also been involved in several geoeducation projects over the years and am currently working on the AGSSS program with several other faculty in our department. Please enjoy and if you have any questions don't hesitate to email me at klein@geog.tamu.edu |
